The HCC Secretariat was established in July 2012 in Barbados through the kind support of Sagicor Life Inc Barbados.
Sagicor Life Inc was established in Barbados in 1840 as The Barbados Mutual Life Assurance Society. Today, Sagicor Life Inc is the leading indigenous provider of financial services and is one of the most successful companies on the island.
The HCC Secretariat has been funded through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Sagicor since July 2012. The Sagicor MOU covers the daily operations of the HCC including the modest office housed in Caribbean Catalyst Inc., the Executive Director and the part time IT Manager.
Without the generous support of Sagicor Life Inc. the work of the HCC over the past 6 years would not have been possible. One of the major challenges faced by civil society organisations globally is lack of core funding to support daily operational costs. Private sector can play a significant role in meeting this gap and we applaud the leadership and commitment to fighting NCDs that Sagicor Life has displayed through this support for the HCC.
