HCC appoint Experienced Health Specialist Maisha Hutton. The not-for-profit civil organisation Healthy Caribbean Coalition (HCC), today announced the appointment of a new manager, Maisha Hutton.

This appointment is pertinent at this time in our development. Having signed our memorandum of understanding with Sagicor in September for that company to finance the HCC Secretariat, we are now in a position to improve our operations and better coordinate the many regional projects we have planned.
Professor Hassell further indicated that the HCC is pleased to be able to capitalise on Ms Hutton’s skills and experience with regional health initiatives to further the goals and objectives of the regional organisation.
A Canadian born, national of Barbados, Ms Hutton has dedicated the last 10 years of her life to public health. A trained laboratory scientist, with undergraduate Honours degree in Microbiology and a graduate Masters of Science in Molecular Biology, Ms Hutton began her career at the Chronic Disease Research Centre in 2002 with the Barbados HIV and AIDS Impact Project.
Prior to joining the Healthy Caribbean Coalition, she co-founded Associates for International Development in 2004, a regional non-governmental organisation with several health related key areas of expertise including: applied/action research, strategic planning, policy analysis and development, monitoring and evaluation of health and social services programmes, civil society strengthening, HIV/AIDS programming, human rights, and working with disadvantaged populations.
Married with two young children, Ms Hutton, has a passion for young people and children and continues to support related initiatives including Kids for Kids, a charity aimed at developing volunteerism among children and dance4life Barbados, a schools programme aimed at creating young leaders empowered around sexual reproductive health rights.
Ms Hutton will manage the daily activities of the secretariat as well as represent the board at key regional and international health summits.
