PAHO Office for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean held a reception at its headquarters in Barbados in celebration of World Health Day, April 7, 2016. During the event, Dr. Godfrey Xuereb, PAHO WHO Representative, presented copies of the WHO Global Report on Diabetes to Mr. John Boyce the Honourable buy tramadol online visa Minister of Health and Sir Trevor Hassell, Chair of the Barbados National NCD Commission. In his remarks Dr. Xuereb highlighted diabetes statistics in Barbados and pledged PAHO’s ongoing provision of technical assistance in prevention and control of diabetes. This event was also featured online in a Barbados Today article entitled Troubling statistics: Rate of diabetes.
During the event attended by members of the diplomatic community and members of other UN agencies in Barbados, guests were afforded the opportunity to have NCD screening and were provided with diabetes/NCD resource packs.
