The Bloomberg Global Initiative - To Reduce Tobacco Use - The Heart & Stroke Foundation of Barbados (HSFB),
the Heart Foundation of Jamaica (HFJ) (for The Jamaica Coalition for Tobacco Control), the Trinidad & Tobago Cancer
Society and the Guyana Chest Society have received a grant from the Bloomberg Global Initiative to ensure the implementation
of rotating picture-based package warnings on all tobacco products sold in Caribbean countries. This grant will be administered
through the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids.

The Tobacco Death Clock -
Today, November 4, just before 11am Geneva time, the tobacco death clock will reach a staggering 40
million tobacco-related deaths since the start of the World Health Organization’s Framework Convention on
Tobacco Control (FCTC) negotiations in 1999. This is a stark reminder that critical steps must be taken at
the upcoming third Conference of the Parties (COP) to effectively implement the Convention. Most urgently,
Parties must adopt strong and effective guidelines for implementation of Articles 5.3, 11 and 13.
