Tobacco & NCDs

• 5.4 million tobacco-related deaths per year
• Unchecked, increase to 8 million by 2030
• 70% in low-and middle-income countries
• Major common risk factor for all four diseases represented by the NCD Alliance
• 1 in 6 NCD deaths attributable to tobacco use

NCD Roundtable Objectives

• Establish global health and development community agenda and voice around NCDs
• Develop recommendations highlighting integration of NCDs and risk factors with other, prevailing global health priorities
• Convene expanded group of US‐based and global stakeholders that supports work of NCD Alliance
