The Global Asthma Network (GAN)

The Global Asthma Network (GAN) The Global Asthma Network (GAN) was established in 2012 to improve asthma care globally, with a focus on low and middle-income countries, through enhanced surveillance, research collaboration, capacity building and access to quality-assured essential medicines. The Network is a collaboration between individuals from the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood (ISAAC) and the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union).

No one else in the world is monitoring asthma except GAN and they are working on increasing access to asthma medicines. The HCC was introduced to the Global Asthma Network earlier this month at the UN NCD Review when we had the pleasure of meeting Professor Innes Asher, Chair of the Global Asthma Network. Currently GAN have 271 centres in 115 countries but only 2 Caribbean countries (Bahamas and Grenada). Professor Asher was very keen for the remaining Caribbean countries to join the network.

GAN invites Caribbean Asthma researchers to join it's global network- please click here for the concept note and here for an expression of interest form for the Global Asthma Network.
