Thanks to the swift action taken by NGOs around the world – including many FCA members – the United Nations General Assembly is about to consider a resolution calling for comprehensive action to address non-communicable diseases (NCDs), tobacco use and other risk factors. We understand the resolution could be introduced as early as Thursday 6 May for immediate adoption, so there is still just time to urge your country to support the resolution.

So far, a total of 44 countries are co-sponsoring the resolution. Contact your UN Permanent Representatives in New York, listed here (PDF 38KB right click "Save Link/Target As") to request that they support the resolution, which calls for a High-Level Meeting of the General Assembly on the prevention and control of NCDs in September 2011.
