The Heart & Stroke Foundation of Barbados - was established in 1985 as a non-profit organisation
and is a member of the InterAmerican Heart Foundation and the World Heart Federation. The Foundation
is involved in prevention and rehabilitation programmes for cardiovascular disease and emergency cardiac

The InterAmerican Heart Foundation - The InterAmerican Heart Program was created in September 1992 under the auspice of the
World Heart Federation with the support of the American Heart Association, the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada,
the Interamerican Society of Cardiology, and heart foundations and societies throughout the American continents.
The Heart & Stroke Foundation of Barbados is a member of IAHF.

The Pan American Health Organsization - The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) is an
international public health agency with more than 100 years of experience in working to improve health
and living standards of the countries of the Americas. It serves as the specialized organization for
health of the Inter-American System. It also serves as the Regional Office for the Americas of the World
Health Organization and enjoys international recognition as part of the United Nations system.

The Council of Voluntary Social Services - The National Registry of Volunteers (NRV) initiative is a collaboration
of the Council of Voluntary Social Services (CVSS), the Environmental Foundation of Jamaica (EFJ), Social Development
Commission (SDC) and the University of the West Indies (UWI), supported by several national organizations. The National
Registry of Volunteers will seek to develop a database that records and recognizes the contributions of those who give
of their time and effort in service to others without expectation of personal and financial gains.

The Barbados Diabetes Foundation - was created in 2002 to improve diabetes
care in Barbados. Diabetes has been a matter of rising concern in developed
and developing countries over the past four decades and today has reached a
point where it is responsible for the major portion of death and disability
in Barbados. Ranked third as a cause of death in the 2004 Chief Medical
Officer #8217s Report, it also provides a major contribution to death from
cardiovascular disease, which individually ranks higher.

The Jamaica Cancer Society is a non-profit, non-governmental organization,
which was formed in 1955. We are engaged in activities for the prevention
and control of cancer in Jamaica. The head-office is located in Kingston
with three branches in St. Ann/St. Mary, Manchester, and St. Elizabeth.
Charged with the mandate to "Fight and defeat cancer in all its forms" the
Society has initiated a number of initiatives in the years since its

The Physical Activity Network of the Americas (RAFA/PANA), was created in 2000 with the objective of building a “network of national networks”
that integrates members of public and private institutions, that aims to improve, recover, maintain or promote, good health and quality of

CCFP is an organization of Caribbean Family Physicians. The College is dedicated to the delivery of people-centred primary care that is continuous from cradle to grave, contextual and comprehensive whilst at the same time empowering patients to be partners in managing their health and that of their communities. CCFP has been accepted as a Full member of the World Council of Family Doctors (WONCA) since 2007 and therefore bears reciprocity with other sister organizations the world over.

The Caribbean Cardiac Society was launched in 1988, two years after the first Cardiology meeting in 1986.
The success of the first conference which was held by distance mode, encouraged a small group of enthusiastic persons to hold the second as a live conference in 1987 at the Jamaica Conference Centre in Kingston, Jamaica. Professor Magdi Yacoub of the United Kingdom was among the world-renowned members of faculty invited to make a presentation.
